A Writer's Life

The business of being a writer is one of emotional ups and downs. Sometimes words are flowing, but other times, our well has totally run dry. There are days when we feel like we’re finally finding our way and moving forward, but there are others where we feel so lost and alone. I’ve been there and back again so many times, and I understand exactly how you feel. In today’s video, I’m talking about 5 ways to cultivate joy as an author.

  1. You’ve really hit the nail on the head with these 5 tips! Hearing them just reassures I’m needing to follow them! LOL! All of them resonate with me! Of course, #5, I will hopefully never stray far from, but the others, I definitely need to recite and act on daily! In this industry, it’s so hard NOT to compare yourself, your books, and your sales to others success. And #4 makes complete sense! I can tell you within the last two months, I’ve honed in on ads and selling more books, but I’ve been faced with overwhelming thoughts and anxiety. Time to get my planner out and think long term and focus on those goals, while taking a breather! Thank you, Sarra, for your blog! I enjoy stopping by and hearing from you!

Thank you so much, Christina! I am completely right there with you on the comparison and the overhwelm and anxiety! It’s SO tough not to compare or to want more, but I think we really have to be patient with ourselves! Hang in there. And thanks for coming by to read the posts!

Hi, I'm Sarra!

I have been self-publishing my books since 2010, and in that time, I've sold well over half a million copies of my books. I'm not a superstar or a huge bestseller, but I have built an amazing career that brings me great joy. Here at Heart Breathings, I hope to help you find that same level of success. Let's do this.
