A Writer's Life | Writing Tips
I’m starting a new book! Except that it’s not a brand new book. It’s an older book that I started back in 2019 and never got a chance to finish. I currently have a handful of plotting notes and just over 20,000 words of completed draft.
Even though I set this book aside in 2019 and have worked on several projects since then, my brain keeps coming back to this story! I honestly think about it all the time, and just recently, a piece of it clicked together for me. Lightbulb moment!
In today’s video, I’m talking about my decision to “allow” myself to work on this story despite the fact that I’m “supposed” to be working on Book 12 of my Shadow Demons Saga, this other story is calling me right now.
I’ll share my thought process of splitting my time, the process of setting up my notebook for a novel with seven points of view, and how I’m restarting an older book project that’s partially done and has been sitting for a few years.
If you love some of my supplies and want to check them out, head over to my Amazon Storefront and find the list “Writing Tools and Stationery”. I’ve got a lot of the things I use here listed!
I hope you enjoyed this look into how I color code and set up a new project, but I also hope what I had to say about writing helpful and freeing at this time in your life. It’s really hitting me pretty hard these days!
So, here’s to celebrating joy in the writing process and trusting that it’s all going to work out for the best.
I’ll check in with you next week for a new video. I’m also prepping for Preptober videos, so if you have a request for a topic, let me know!
I have been self-publishing my books since 2010, and in that time, I've sold well over half a million copies of my books. I'm not a superstar or a huge bestseller, but I have built an amazing career that brings me great joy. Here at Heart Breathings, I hope to help you find that same level of success. Let's do this.
I am also about to restart an older story idea. I began this story but it failed to evolve into a good story. I am going to try again!
You got this!!
